Building Sand Castles Children Lake Osoyoos Olympia Washington
This vintage postcard shows children building sand castles at Lake Osoyoos State Park in North Central Washington State. Nowadays this park is known as Osoyoos Lake Veteran’s Memorial Park as its name was changed after being sold to the city of Oroville.
Lake Osoyoos State Park is located on picturesque Okanogan River Valley on Highway 97. It features a 300-foot sandy beach on Lake Osoyoos along with green lawns and shade trees. It’s a popular regional tourist attraction due to several available activities such as boating, swimming, fishing, bird watching, and horseshoes. It also offers excellent camping facilities including 61 standard sites, 18 utility sites (power & water), 6 primitive sites (walk-in only), 2 ADA sites (one with power and water) a restroom/shower complex, many picnic sites, and a trailer dump.
Okanogan River Valley also offers several hiking, biking and horseback trails including Similkameen Trail, and Whistler Canyon Trail. This postcard has a beautiful picture of children building sand castles which is supposed to be at least 53 years old as it carries the signature of Albert D Rosellini who was the Governor of Washington between 1957 and 1965.
