CHAU1651 A vintage early 1972 hand signed letter from Dr H Dietz famous German Hannover Neursurgeon some 40-50 years ago folded once where posted (which is how I will send) otherwise mint condition.
Dietz, whose parents ran a restaurant in Pirmasens was drafted into the Wehrmacht in Zweinbrucken after graduating from high school and was a soldier from 1943 to 1945. From 1946 to 1950 he studied psychology (with a diploma) at the University Of Mainz and then medicine. In 1953 he received his doctorate (leukocyte regulation and the vegetative system). He completed specialist training as a surgeon in Mainz and from 1955 in neurosurgery with Kirt Schurmann . In 1962 he became a senior physician and in 1966 he completed his habitation (frontobasal craniocerebral injury).
From 1970 to 1993 he was a full professor and director of the neurosurgical clinic at the Hannover Medical School (MHH). From 1981 to 1989 he was medical director of the MHH. From 1982 to 1984 he was chairman of the German Society for Neurobiology (DGNC), from 1980 to 1982 its vice president and from 1974 to 1980 secretary. In 1979 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Teresina in Brazil. In 1998 he received the Wilhelm Tonis Medal.
