Fruitland Iowa 1909 Exaggeration Hunter Salting Rabbits Tail Real Photo Postcard Item Description: A winter's tail. Great Silver Print Photo Post Card of a hunter with shotgun pouring salt from a shaker onto the tail of a huge rabbit. The card is titled: Salted. Copyrighted Photograph 1909 by W. H. Martin. Come To Fruitland (Fruitland, Iowa) And See For Yourself (stamped into card). Postmarked in Muscatine, Iowa Aug 31 1909. In 1894, William H. Martin (1865-1940) Martin had a studio in Ottawa, Kansas; he started doing trick photography in 1908; the next year he sold his studio to concentrate on the wildly exaggerated and popular postcards; in 1912 he sold the business. Condition is Good: small crease lower right corner, light cancel impression.
