Letter written to girl describing life on base. Of interest is story of how he was wounded while on guard duty. While guarding a stretch of woods on base he was ambushed by group of negroes who were after large brass artily shell cases. He was shot but wounded two of the attackers who later died. A third was captured and the rest got away.
