A vintage postcard of the memorial to Jimmie Rodgers, the "Singing Brakeman," at the Jimmie Rodgers Museum in Meridian, Mississippi. This postcard was published in the 1950s or 1960s by Deep South Specialties of Jackson, Mississippi.
Meridian, Mississippi is the birthplace of Jimmie Rodgers. In the Highland Park area of the city, there is a Jimmie Rodgers Museum which displays his original guitar and other memorabilia of his life and career, as well as railroad equipment from the steam-engine era. Outside of the museum building there are memorials and a vintage steam locomotive on display.
Jimmie Rodgers' grave is at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Meridian. There is a Mississippi Country Music Trail marker in this cemetery in honor of him. There is also a Mississippi Blues Trail historic marker in Meridian to honor Jimmie Rodgers and his importance to the development of blues music in Mississippi. Each year since 1953, the city of Meridian has held a festival during May to honor the anniversary of his death. It is 3½ x 5½ inch (9x14cm) size. It is unused and in Excellent, near-new condition.
