A modern postcard of the famous 1896 poster for Le Chat Noir troupe of entertainers, who performed in and outside of the Paris cabaret also called Le Chat Noir. The text reads “Coming soon, Rodolphe Salis’ Le Chat Noir on tour.” The artist is Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen (1859-1923).
Le Chat Noir referred to the cabaret in the Montmartre district of Paris, the troupe of entertainers, and an arts journal, all created by Rodolphe Salis. The troupe specialized in unique pieces of shadow theater inspired by the Chinese shadow puppet shows.
This postcard was published by Tushita in the 2000s. It is about 4 x 6 inches (10x15cm) size. It is unused and in new condition.
