Item Description

This foil-embossed Merry Christmas Post Card was mailed from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Pine City, Minnesota in 1910 franked by a one-cent Benjamin Franklin issue (straight edge with guideline right), tied by a machine cancellation.

Christmas Seal issue of 1910,Scott WX6.

The card consists of two sheets pasted together (resulting in the thickness of two post cards), partially separated by (presumably) the recipient that has an image of the Cross, some flowers, and a scene with a house on the underside of the address side. No way to get a scan without pulling the halves apart. I guess this could possibly be a home made contrivance with the greeting half coming from a different post card, or even a Christmas Card cut to size.

Another thing I can't explain is the manuscript '6-5-13' address top left which was clearly written in-period but doesn't jive with the date of mailing.

Corners a bit bumped; mild corner crease address side; foil has some edge wear and has a small section separating from its side of the card.
