Exploring Mt. Cook National Park in New Zealand Welcome to my latest adventure in the beautiful country of New Zealand! Today, I had the incredible opportunity to visit Mt. Cook, the highest mountain in the country standing at 12,349 feet. This majestic peak is a mecca for mountaineers from all over the world, and I was lucky enough to capture a stunning view of it from The Hermitage. Did you know that Mt. Cook was first climbed on December 24th, 1894 by T. C. Fyffe, George Graham, and J. M. Clark? The mountain was named after New Zealand's discoverer by J. L. Stokes, commander of H.M.S. "Acheron" during an Admiralty survey cruise in 1851. It's incredible to think about the history and significance of this iconic peak. One of the highlights of my visit was taking a ski plane tour around Mt. Cook and landing on nearby glaciers. The views from above were absolutely breathtaking, and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget. As I continue to explore this fascinating country, I am constantly amazed by the little travel things that bring me so much joy. From the sights and sounds of Christchurch to the stunning landscapes of the South Island, every moment is filled with wonder and excitement.
