You can see on the right side a pool hall, Moccasin Cash Grocery, another Pool hall, Preston Brothers Clothes & Shoes. On the left is Moccasin Mercantile Company General Store & Post Office, J. Astad Drug store plus others. The town of Moccasin was officially founded in 1900, when the Great Northern Railway extended its line through the area. The town was named after a nearby hill that resembled a moccasin. The first businesses in Moccasin included a general store, a post office, and a hotel. In the early 20th century, Moccasin grew rapidly as a center for agriculture and ranching. The town's economy was based on the production and shipping of wheat, barley, and cattle. The Moccasin Farmers' Elevator, built in 1914, was one of the largest elevators in the state, and played a key role in the town's economy. Photographer: Unknown. The corners have very light wear.
