Item Description
This very rare and unique collection of RPPC’s was assembled in February 1913 by Marine Corporal Feltz who signed on as a passenger on the sternwheeler “Queen City” and traveling from Cincinnati, Ohio to New Orleans and other Louisiana and Mississippi destinations via the Ohio River and the Mississippi River. The initial incentive was to attend Mardi Gras but he also toured Baton Rouge and Vicksburg National Cemetery. The pictures were taken by Corporal Feltz and include views along the journey as well as at New Orleans, including the Mardi Gras Celebration; Baton Rouge and Mississippi towns of Gloster and Centreville are also featured in addition to views at the Vicksburg National Cemetery. Included also are pictures of the “Queen City” and all photos are identified with notes on the correspondence side of the RPPC. None of the postcards are postally-used.
Additional details of the vessel and Corporal Feltz are included in this exclusive, one-of-a-kind package.
We at Attic Heritage Auctions have personally and directly confirmed the authenticity of this collection through direct contact with family members of Corporal Feltz.
