Real Photo Postcard (RPPC)
Unmailed. U.S. Jazz Band c1920s. Musicians are wearing basic Navy whites. Director at far right in dark uniform. Instruments pictured: piano, saxophones, tuba, trombone, trumpet, and banjo. The word "Bloom" is in the lower left hand corner. I found a different image of the same band which was obviously taken the same day as this image as it has the same caption and style. The bass drum in that photo had text which read: "Al Moore uses Conns exclusively." Conns is a reference to the Conn instrument company who manufactured musical instruments. Trombonist "Ensign" Al Moore was the leader of this jazz band. Their greatest hits were in 1924 with "Red Nose Pete"; 1925 with the songs "Sometime" and "You Told Me To Go" and 1926 with "Tamiami Trail". Alton Moore was an American jazz trombonist who played with : Fats Waller, Coleman Hawkins, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Carter, Fletcher Henderson and others. Born : October 07, 1908 in Selma, Alabama. Died : January 01, 1978 in New York City, New York.
Condition: Good, corner and edge wear, soiling, no bends.
